Ferris Place Little Free Library & Broad Street Little Free Library

The FUMC Little Free Libraries are a community outreach project to encourage literacy by sharing great books for people of all ages.  “Education is a core value of the United Methodist Church  that dates back to the earliest day of the Methodist movement  in 18th century England.” (source: Ask The UMC - FAQs)

Scripture & Prayer

At FUMC Westfield, we seek to love God and love everyone. We commit to follow Jesus in word and action. We care for our community and congregation by sowing seeds of grace, love, and joy.

Jesus used stories when he spoke to the people.  In fact, he did not tell them anything without using stories.  So God’s promise came true, just as the prophet had said, “I will use stories to speak my message and to explain things hidden since the creation of the world. Matthew 13:34-35

God, you have endowed us with the ability to learn and think critically, each to our own ability, and for that we are grateful.  But due to our systemic inequity many lack the support and resources to live fully into that blessing.  Help us in our work to grow literacy.  Guide us in this work and help us to eliminate the causes and consequences of illiteracy in ways that serve you and let all know that they are loved.  Amen.
